What Do We Do at VNL, In 3 Words?

Although Visible Network Labs is based in Denver, Colorado, we are a fully-remote company. This means some of our team members work locally, while other members work in places ranging from Hawaii, Montana, Puerto Rico, and many places in between. While our team is comfortable and productive while working remotely, staying connected and cohesive remains top of mind. Every Tuesday, we at VNL hold our weekly team meeting via Zoom, which every single member of the company attends. While our internal teams like Development and Marketing have many smaller, more focused meetings throughout the week that dive into specific goals or challenges, our Tuesday morning meeting is most important.

During the meeting, every individual in the company is encouraged, if they’d like, to talk about family and life, their weekend, and other fun topics. Towards the end of the meeting, VNL’s internal team leaders update the group what they and their teams are working on. During this week’s meeting, our CEO and Founder, Dr. Danielle Varda, posed a question: How would you describe what we do at Visible Network Labs, in three separate short phrases or words?

While it’s true that our innovative solutions, PARTNER CPRM (Community Partner Relationship Management) and PARTNERme (social support screening and referral tool) have made us an industry leader in delivering data and insights to networks of providers as well as persons receiving care, we are constantly revisiting and refining what our ultimate impact is. Talking at length about our mission seems easy, but the challenge is explaining what we do in a succinct way.

To facilitate this, Dr. Varda utilized Menti, a website and software that allows users to create interactive presentations and deploy surveys, polls, and quizzes. Our responses were anonymous, and once the link was posted in our Zoom session, it wasn’t long before our entire team offered what they felt we actually do and address with our work, in three words or phrases. The picture below shows how Menti organized our responses, with those more prominently featured indicating a more popular response.

Here’s a little more info on our top three responses, and what they mean to VNL:

1. Social Connectedness:

In the days of an enduring pandemic and its subsequent effects on people’s lives, Social Connectedness has stepped to the forefront of many conversations. And with good reason: Adverse Social Connectedness can be pervasive even in today’s hyper-connected world, and while older folks are usually seen as those most at risk, it is teens and young adults that have been reaching critical levels lately, according to U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy. Adverse connectedness leads to loneliness, which has been shown to raise “risk factors for early mortality, with an increased likelihood of death ranging from 26% to 32%.” Our PARTNER solutions are specifically designed to combat adverse social connectedness, and are enabling care providers in a wide range of settings to garner valuable insights on how to better serve those to whom they are providing care.

2. Network Science:

Network Science is at the core of what we do at Visible Network Labs. We make the invisible connections between individuals and the networks that are supporting and serving them visible and accessible to all participants and networks more evident. Our PARTNER CPRM solution is dedicated to helping care providers get a better understanding of the person they are providing care to, by identifying where their personal network is strong and has adequate support, as well as where they may need more attention and action. Our Development and Product teams are constantly working to improve our solutions, and update them to fit client needs.

3. Analysis:

Our team of Data Scientists and Analysts help guide the development of our PARTNER solutions through constant examination and evaluation of the information and feedback we receive from our partners and clients about how to better serve them. This is what we analyze and use to improve. Protected health information always remains secure in the hands of our clients. We are HIPAA compliant and mindful of ethical and professional concerns about privacy and confidentiality. The development and strategy of Visible Network Labs and our solutions are the result of continuous analysis, and we believe our clients and the communities they serve are stronger because of it.
